Ter Manyang Gatwech
Ter Manyang Gatwech is a gender expert, consultant, and human rights defender with 9 years of experience in protecting human rights in South Sudan. He is the Executive Director of the Center for Peace and Advocacy (CPA) and Chairperson of the Civil Society Coalition on Defense of Civic Space (CSCDCS). He has also served as the National Coordinator of the Network of South Sudanese Civil Society Organizations in Uganda and Chairperson of the Human Rights Defenders in Exile Working Group (HRD-EWG).
Due to his continued human rights work, Ter has received numerous death threats and was forced to seek refuge in other countries. He was previously forced into exile in Uganda and upon his return to South Sudan, established the Center for Peace and Advocacy (CPA) with the goal of continuing his advocacy work. In 2023, he was awarded the Human Rights Winner Award for the Greater Upper Nile Region of South Sudan by the South Sudan Human Rights Defenders Network (SSHRDN).
