Waleed Alkordi

Waleed Alkordi is a lawyer, researcher, and human rights defender focusing on the promotion and protection of digital rights. Waleed is currently the Director of Salamtak – a human rights organisation focused on digital rights, and the empowerment and protection of human rights defenders. He also works as a legal expert for the American Bar Association/MENA Human Rights Center and supports several local NGOs in Iraq.

Through his work he has contributed to the preparation of crucial reports and studies on policies and legislation in Iraq e.g. UPR reports for Iraq. Waleed also has extensive experience in delivering training on digital protection, risk and threat analysis, fair trials, campaigning and advocacy, and monitoring and documenting violations. Additionally, Waleed has worked on monitoring and documenting the violations of victims of sexual violence against Yazidi women and girls by the terrorist organisation ISIS.
