Rustam Matsev is a lawyer and member of the Human Rights Centre “Memorial” in the Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria, in the North-Caucasus. Rustam received death threats in 2013 and has been harassed by police officials willing to interfere with his investigations and work against police abuses and torture.
