Mona Shtaya
Mona Shtaya is a woman human rights defender focused on digital rights, with more than a decade of experience in non-profit organisations, working to enhance transparency, and hold governments and big tech accountable. Her advocacy and campaigning has resulted in exposing digital discrimination against oppressed people, building coalitions, and mobilising groups to hold governments and tech giants accountable. Currently, Mona serves as the Campaigns and Partnerships Manager (MENA) and Corporate Engagement Lead at Digital Action.
She is also a 2024 Migration and Technology Monitor Fellow and a non-resident scholar for the Middle East Institute (MEI) in the Palestine-Israel program. Previously, she served as a non-resident fellow at the Tahrir Institute for Middle East Policy (TIMEP), focusing on surveillance and digital rights in the MENA region. She also held a position as a non-resident scholar for the Middle East Institute (MEI) in the Cyber Security and Emerging Technology Program.
