Adalinda Gutiérrez Hernández

Adalinda Gutiérrez Hernández is a Lenca woman and woman human rights defender from the communities of La Paz. Adalinda is a guardian of the forest and defends the communities’ natural resources, land and territory. She also supports girls and women that have suffered violence in the communities of the region. Her political work is focused on bringing awareness to the impacts of extractive projects on the communities, as well as on the experiences of women human rights defenders around the country.

Adalina has contributed extensively to building new horizons, challenging national and international groups of power. Her human rights work has lead to collective and individual attacks that put her life at risk. These attacks are indicative of a racist policy of looting and extermination against indigenous communities in the country.
