On 9 June 2017, human rights defender, Rana Tanveer, was riding his motorcycle to a meeting with family members in Lahore when he was deliberately rammed from behind by a car. He sustained a fracture to his leg and was immediately taken to a hospital where he underwent surgery. He was discharged from the hospital and returned home on 13 June 2017. Rana Tanveer and his family had just relocated to a safe house after death threats were spray-painted on the defender’s door in Lahore on 30 May 2017.

20 October 2016

On 17 October 2016, human rights defenders Mr Sarayuth Ritthipin and Mr Chadet Kaewsin received a summons from the Chum Phae Police Station in Khon Kaen city, Isan region. They have been accused of libel and computer-related violations against government authorities.

On 16 August 2016, Sandra Ntebi was driving home from a press conference when another driver purposefully bumped into her vehicle, causing damage. Following the police disruption of LGBTI Pride events in Kampala on 4 August 2016, Sandra Ntebi has been the target of ongoing harassment.

13 July 2016

On 13 July 2016 human rights defender Pastor Evan Mawarire was brought to Magistrate Court in Harare on charges of incitement to commit public violence. During the trial, the charge was changed to subverting a constitutionally elected government. This charge is a third schedule offence under Zimbabwe Law and requires a trial by the High Court.
