Chief Dsta’hyl (Adam Gagnon)

Dsta’hyl, also known as Adam Gagnon, is the Wet'suwet'en Hereditary Wing Chief of the Likhts’amisyu Clan and a human rights defender. As a Hereditary Chief, he fulfils his role to protect the lands and ecosystems of the Wet’suwet’en Nation for current and future generations, leading  actions of defence of the land and sovereignty rights of Wet’suwet’en Nation’s people from the impact of extractive projects that are aimed to be activated in the lands.

Due to his human rights work and role in the Wet’suwet’en Nation, he has been criminalized, being found in February 2024 guilty of criminal contempt for violating the terms of an injunction order related to the Coastal GasLink pipeline project.
