Bahareh Hedayat is a student’s rights defender and campaigner for women's rights. In 2012 she was awarded the Edelstam Prize for her “outstanding courage and commitment to justice actively worked against the violations of human rights in Iran.” She is currently a masters student of political studies at the University of Tehran and a board member of “United Students Associations”.

Iran

Human rights defenders and journalists are arrested, detained and prosecuted in unfair trials. HRDs continue to receive death threats and are subjected to harassment, arbitrary arrest and detention.
