Institute for Development of Freedom of Information
The Institute for the Development of Freedom of Information (IDFI), founded in 2009, is a leading non-governmental organization based in Tbilisi, Georgia. The organization monitors government actions and documents violations, disseminating this information to the public. Its early projects, such as examining government websites and creating the “Public Information Database” greatly increased transparency and public participation. Over time, IDFI has evolved into a watchdog and think tank. It combines independent research, evidence-based advocacy, practical recommendations and strategic litigation to strengthen democratic governance and human rights in Georgia.
