Governance Monitoring Centre

Governance Monitoring Center (GMC) is a non-governmental organization in Georgia working to strengthen good governance, building democratic institutions and striving to fundamental human rights. GMC is committed to ensure accountability and transparency of the state, raise public awareness on policy issues and introduce innovative ideas for the development of civil society. Key focuses for the organization include monitoring and analyzing the state budget, politics, elections and local governance. Since its establishment, GMC has produced numerous articles, publications and multimedia materials on these topics.

Human rights defenders in Georgia are often subjected to physical attacks, threats and insults, defamation, and slander. In most cases, these forms of intimidation are levelled against those who protect and promote the rights of migrants and members of national, religious, or sexual minorities, as well as those working on politically sensitive cases and in remote areas where they have almost no opportunities for protection.
