Musie Tilahun Yirga

Musie Tilahun Yirga is an Ethiopian human rights defender focused on disability rights. Since 2011, he has engaged in various disability inclusion initiatives and contributed to the inclusion of persons with disabilities in development agendas. He has worked for various NGOs, assuming positions such as project coordinator, program officer, program director, and executive director. Through his work, Musie has reached hundreds of governments officials, NGO staff members, health workers, parliamentarians, university instructors and teachers with a series of disability development awareness trainings.

Musie recently joined the Association of Lawyers with Disabilities as its Executive Director, advocating for the realisation of disability rights and providing free legal aid services for persons with disabilities. He currently serves as Chairperson of the Network of Human Rights Advocacy for Persons with Disabilities, Chairperson of the Ethiopian Human Rights Defenders with Disability Network and, Vice Chairperson for the national steering committee of Organisations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs).
