Communication to Financial Action Task Force regarding the misuse of FATF standards to undermine civil society groups in India
Front Line Defenders and 8 other civil society organisations wrote to the Financial Action Task Force to bring attention to critical concerns regarding the Financial ActionTask Force (FATF)’s Mutual Evaluation Report (MER) for India. Alarming indications of the Indian government’s misuse of FATF standards have been observed, with the aim of targeting and undermining civil society organizations working to defend human rights.
The communication urged FATF secretariat to schedule a meeting between the assessment team and Indian civil society representatives to ensure a more comprehensive and inclusive evaluation.
