On 26 October 2015, human rights defender Mr Dmitry Tikhonov learnt that his office, located in his house, in the city of Angren, was burned down on 20 October, while he was away travelling.

His technical equipment and documentation of human rights abuses in Uzbekistan were destroyed, while all other rooms in the house remained untouched.

On 13 June 2019, the journalist Timur Karpov was officially notified that the issuing of his passport was denied due to the request being considered ‘unreasonable’. The journalist has been trying to obtain the passport that would allow him to travel outside of Uzbekistan since 8 April 2019.

14 April 2009

On 22 April 2009, approximatively at 6.30pm the five-year-old son of Yelena Urlaeva, was assaulted near his apartment building by an unknown young man who hit him with a baton on the head. The child was diagnosed as being concussed. At the children's hospital N14 of Tashkent, where Mukhammad was admitted, doctors refused to note in his medical card that the concussion was the result of an attack.

On 31 May 2015, human rights defender Ms Elena Urlaeva was detained by police and subjected to violence after interviewing and photographing teachers and medical staff forced by Uzbek district authorities to work in cotton fields.

25 October 2017

On 16 October 2017, Ganihon Mamathanov was released from Zhaslyk Prison Colony in Karakalpakstan, Uzbekistan. He was arrested in October 2009 on trumped-up charges of fraud and bribery and on 25 November 2009 he was sentenced to 5 years and 2 months in prison. Shortly before his detention, Ganihon Mamathanov had sent an open letter addressed to the President of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov, in which he criticised a governmental decree promoting the enlargement of private farms.

17 December 2015

On 11 January 2016, the court of Djizak city released human rights defender Uktam Pardayev under amnesty, after a decision taken by the Upper Chamber of Parliament earlier in December.

On 16 November 2015, the premises of human rights defender Uktam Pardayev were searched, his documents and electronic equipment were seized and he was arrested. He was arrested and he was later charged with insult, fraud and extortion following an accusation by a third party.

Uzbek human rights defender, Mr Shukhrat Rustamov, is at risk of being forcibly placed in a psychiatric clinic, following the finding of Shajhantahurskij Regional Court of Common Pleas in Tashkent that he is 'mentally incompetent'.

30 July 2014

On 21 July 2014, Tashkent City Court dismissed the appeal filed by the legal team of human rights defender and investigative journalist Mr Sid Yanyshev, upholding his conviction. On 28 June 2014, Sid Yanyshev was sentenced by Shaykhantakhursky District Court to a fine of 9,610,500 Uzbek Soms (approximately € 2,340) and the confiscation of his camera was ordered following an article he wrote about violations of property rights of Tashkent inhabitants whose houses had been demolished.

Saida Kurbanova was arrested on 7 December 2012 by the police as a result of the testimony of the two women who had attacked her. It is reported that following the arrest, the hard disk of Saida Kurbanova's computer was confiscated.

On 15 February 2018, a criminal case was opened in Moscow against migrant rights defender Bakhrom Khamroev, on the trumped up charge of illegally assisting in the ‘fictitious registration of foreign citizens residency’ under Article 322.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

7 October 2016

On 29 September 2016, the Federal Security Service (FSB) conducted a raid at the home of human rights lawyer, Mr. Bakhrom Khamroev, during which all of his technical equipment and documents were confiscated. Following the raid, Bakhrom Khamroev was detained and interrogated at the FSB headquarters.

On 9 June 2016, representatives of the Jalal-Abad Human Rights Organisation Spravedlivost (Justice) were questioned by police officers dealing with crimes of terrorism and extremism, over legal assistance provided by them to citizens of Lenin Street, in the city Jalal-Abad.
