Yevhenii Vasyliev
Yevhenii Vasyliev is the coordinator of programs monitoring human rights violation for the civic movement Vostok SOS. Vostok SOS is a civil initiative which focuses on providing aid to people who have been exposed to violence in Ukraine, including political violence. It also monitors human rights violations in the East of Ukraine. The movement was established in 2014 as a result of the merging of human rights center 'Postup' (Path) and human rights center 'Diya' (Action).
Since the annexation of the Crimean Peninsula, HRDs who defend the rights of Crimean Tatars or ethnic Ukrainians, and those who monitor and document violations of human rights in the peninsula that is currently governed de facto by the Russian Federation, and those who work in Luhansk and Donetsk and have refused Russian citizenship became the main targets of systemic and severe intimidation and harassment.
