Shiva Amelirad

Shiva Amelirad is an educator, psychologist and woman human rights defender from Kurdistan, Iran, based in Toronto, Canada, with over 20 years of experience. Holding a Ph.D., she was dismissed from her teaching position in Iran due to her activism. Shiva is a dedicated member of the Kurdistan Teachers' Union and served as a representative for the Marivan Teachers' Trade Union within the Coordinating Council of Iranian Teachers’ Trade Associations (CCITTA) for several years.

Currently, she serves as an International Representative for the CCITTA, advocating for teachers' rights globally. Shiva is deeply committed to gender and ethnic equality, standing as a strong feminist who amplifies the voices of marginalized communities, particularly women and children. Her work extends beyond education reform, addressing broader issues of social justice, inclusivity, and human rights, including a firm stand against executions. Shiva is committed to creating spaces where voiceless individuals can thrive, ensuring their voices are heard and their rights are upheld.
