SaylíNavarro Alvarez is a member of Damas de Blanco (Ladies in White), a group of women who demand freedom for their husbands, fathers, sons, brothers or nephews, imprisoned in Cuba. They hold regular marches and protests despite repeated crackdowns against the group.
Human rights defenders remain vigilant amidst unprecedented political and diplomatic developments, even if they are hopeful for change, and the government has yet to prove a commitment to human rights.
