Remzi Medik

Remzi Medik is a Roma rights activist and human rights defender from North Macedonia, working at the Center for Development of the Roma Community. In 2001, realizing that the Roma community in Bitola lacked an organisation to address the huge number of problems in the Bair neighbourhood, he joined others in forming the NGO "Bairska Svetlina".

In 2004, he formed part of an expert group on the Roma community, established by the European Center for Minority Issues. Through this project and others, Remzi has contributed to the improvement of the situation of the Roma community in Macedonia, advocating for their rights and reducing discrimination.

In 2017, together with the European Roma Rights Center, he supported several court proceedings regarding discrimination against the Roma community, and have the first positive precedent based on discrimination based on religion, race and colour.
