Oleg Kozlovsky has been working in the sphere of human rights for more than eighteen years. He has been mainly focusing on civic activism, civil society capacity building and non-violent resistance movements. Oleg Kozlovsky has received the prestigious Human Rights Award from Human Rights First and Ion Ratiu Democracy Award. Lately, he has been also working as a researcher for the international human rights organisation Amnesty International.

HRDs are often subjected to acts of harassment, surveillance, physical attacks, threat, raids and searches on their offices and homes, slander and smear campaigns, judicial harassment, arbitrary detention, and ill-treatment, as well as violations of the rights to freedom of expression, association, and assembly. There have also been cases where HRDs have been murdered as a result of their work.
