Maikoul Zodi
Maikoul Zodi is a teacher and an active member of Nigerien civil society. He is the coordinator of the Nigerien section of Tournons La Page (Let's turn the page), an international coalition of NGOs campaigning for democratic change in Africa. Maikoul Zodi is also a member of a network of organisations for transparency and budget analysis (Reseau des Organisations pour la Transparence et l'Analyse Budgetaire, ROTAB), which advocates for the eradication of corruption in Niger.
HRDs whose work focuses on the environmental and human rights impact of the extractive industry in Niger are subjected to severe threats. In their work to denounce the lack of corporate accountability, transparency and fairness in dealings between the government and extractive industries, they have faced harassment, arbitrary arrests and detention.
