Liang Xiaoyan
We are exploring a way to build livable cities in China by decreasing waste at the front end, improving urban traffic, and building low-carbon households and communities.
Liang Xiaoyan is an environmentalist and children's rights activist who was involved in setting up one of the first environmental protection organisations in China in 1994. In 2008 she led an NGO working to improve rural education in western China. Her activism strectches back to the late 1980s when, as a lecturer at Beijing Foreign Studies University, she joined students on Tiananmen Square on 3 June 1989 as the army moved in and attempted to help diffuse the situation.
