Karen Balbin is a migrants and refugees defender and a board member of the collective Colombian refugees in Chile, part of the Chilean Immigrants National Coordination Organisation, which has long been committed to defending the rights of the migrant population in Chile. Karen Balbin, originally from Colombia, has been seeking asylum in Chile since she entered in 2018.
HRDs face police abuses, with demonstrations and street protests being violently repressed several times.
