Ivo Humberto Bracamonte Quiroz
Ivo Humberto Bracamonte Quiroz was a former councilor and community leader from Puerto Santander, Colombia. He spent his last months devoted with great commitment to promoting the free press of the municipality from the direction of the virtual news NPS. The defender was attacked and killed with the impact of several firearm discharges by an individual who approached him while he was exercising on the field in the Beltrania neighborhood of Puerto Santander.
HRDs in Colombia work in a violent and unsafe environment. They are subjected to threats, intimidation, arbitrary detention, enforced disappearances, physical assaults, torture, killings, illegal searches of their homes and offices and stigmatisation as a result of their activities in defence of human rights.
