Doris Kathia
Kathia is a feminist, a dedicated Human Rights Defender, policy advocate, published writer,and an accomplished communication specialist. With over ten years of professional experience in the field, Doris has established herself as a powerful advocate for social justice and women's rights. Her commitment to amplifying marginalized voices and addressing critical societal issues is evident through her extensive work and leadership. Currently, Kathia is a research fellow at the Scottish Human Rights Defender Fellowship. She is the founder and executive director of Raise Your Voice, a leading initiative to empower and advance adolescents and young women and promote their human rights with a critical aspectof sex workers, young mothers, sexual and gender minorities and young people living with HIV.
Under her leadership, the organization has successfully implemented numerousprograms that provide support, education, and advocacy for vulnerable communities. She also supports the East African Community (EAC) Pamoja for the SRHR Civil Society Organizations consortium, which promotes access to sexual and reproductive health rights and services across East Africa. She has previously worked with Global Network ofWomen Peacebuilders among other local, regional and international organizations. Kathia is pursuing a bachelor's degree in communications, further enhancing her expertise and capacity to influence positive change through the media. She effectively integratesreal-world applications with theoretical knowledge through her academic journey.
