Alicia Ortiz is the Director of Fundación ALTROPICO, organization committed to social and environmental causes in the binational region of Ecuador and Colombia, collaborating with indigenous, afro-descendant and mestizo organizations with programs and projects oriented to the good living of their populations.
Human rights defenders in Ecuador have been victims of a wide range of violations in Ecuador, such as police brutality, judicial harassment, arbitrary detentions, smear campaigns, threats, harassment and the oppression of indigenous and campesino communities.
