Aishah Masood
Aishah Masood is a passionate woman human rights defender, spurred into action by the enforced disappearance of her father in 2005. Her human rights journey began during her childhood but cemented later on with her professional studies, as she delved into researching the multifaceted impact of enforced disappearance on women in Pakistan. Focusing on the economic, psychological, and cultural challenges they face, her work aimed to shed light on the often-overlooked repercussions of such traumatic events.
Aishah went on to lead the Amnesty South Asia project, dedicated to creating a virtual museum spotlighting enforced disappearances in South Asia. Currently serving as Project Coordinator at Defence of Human Rights, a victim-led organisation, Aishah holds the role of representing the Asian Federation Against Enforced & Involuntary Disappearances (AFAD) in Pakistan.
