The Frente Unido de Pueblos de la Laguna en Defensa de la Vida, el Territorio y el Agua is composed by 21 communities of Gómez Palacio, Durango. Since 2017, this organisation has been working to protect their territory from the construction of the sodium cyanide industrial chemical megaproject, a supplier of open-pit mining, which has begun operations in the Dinamita area, at the foot of the Sierra del Sarnoso.
