Ecodefense!
Ecodefense! is an environmental non-governmental organization, founded in 1989 in Kaliningrad. Offices of the organization are located in Moscow, Kaliningrad, Yekaterinburg and Vilnius. Ecodefense seeks to stop human rights violations and works to solve environmental problems and increase citizen participation in civil and environmental activities through organization of environmental campaigns, direct non-violent actions, reliable information and environmental education.
The environment for the work of human rights defenders (HRDs) in the Russian Federation is difficult, especially for those who defend and promote the rights of LGBTI people, ethnic and religious minorities, refugees, as well as activists of the North Caucasus and the unlawfully annexed Crimean Peninsula.
