Monthly Protests in Solidarity with Abdulhadi Al-Khawaja
Join Front Line Defenders to protest outside the Bahrain Embassy in London against the ongoing imprisonment of our friend, colleague, and human rights defender Abdulhadi Al Khawaja
Abdulhadi was abducted, tortured, and sentenced to life imprisonment following a military trial in the midst of Bahrain's violently oppressed uprising in 2011. Prior to his leading role in the peaceful revolution, Abdulhadi was the Middle East and North Africa Protection Coordinator with Front Line Defenders.
"If I die, I ask the people to continue on path of peaceful resistance. I don't want anybody to be hurt in my name."
Front Line Defenders has been leading regular demonstrations outside the Embassy of Bahrain every month so far this year. Join us next month in demanding an end to the imprisonment of Abdulhadi!

On the 7th anniversary of the peaceful popular movement of the Bahraini people which started on 14 February 2011, the NGOs called on the international community to help free human rights defenders in Bahrain, some of whom are jailed for life, and to stop the persecution of journalists simply for peacefully exercising their rights to freedom of expression and assembly. On 05 February 2018, Abdulhadi's wife Khadija Al-Mousawi tweeted that she visited her husband who has been targeted and abused in Jaw prison and has been taken to hospital in shackles.
