13 - 15 October 2005
Front Line Defenders hosted the 3rd Dublin Platform for Human Rights Defenders at Dublin Castle, from the 13th-15th October, 2005.
The 3rd Dublin Platform brought together approximately one hundred human rights defenders from seventy countries, and each of these participants were selected on the basis that they are at risk because of their non-violent human rights work in their own country.
The human rights defenders discussed the changing nature of the threats that they face and what measures can be most effective to ensure their protection. There were specific workshops on the Protection Manual for Human Rights Defenders and on electronic communications and security. Participants also discussed progress on the EU Guidelines on the protection of Human Rights Defenders and the specific and additional risks that women face as human rights defenders.
