P.V. Rajagopal is a prominent Indian human rights defender and founding member and Vice-Chair of the Gandhi Peace Foundation in New Delhi. He founded Ekta Parishad in 1991, a non-violent grassroots human rights organisation dedicated to restoring land and water rights to local communities in India. The organisation's activists work towards building community-based governance, local self-reliance and responsible government. Its aim is to see India’s poorest people gain control over livelihood resources, especially land, water and forests.
