On 30 November 2011, the Court of First Instance of Conakry found Commander Sékou Resco Camara, Governor of Conakry, guilty of interfering in judicial affairs in connection with the arbitrary arrest of five human rights defenders on 3 November 2011.
Five human rights defenders, all members of the NGO Mêmes Droits pour Tous – MDT (Same Rights for Everyone), were released in the late afternoon of Friday 4 November 2011 without charge.
Five human rights defenders, members of the NGO Mêmes Droits pour Tous (Same Rights for Everyone – MDT), are currently being held in the Regional Office for Security in Conakry as a consequence of their interventions in two cases of illegal detention.
